Questions, answered

How does a remote deposition work?

The court reporter, the witness and counsel join over Zoom. The Certified Shorthand Reporter swears in the witness and takes down the testimony live, and you get the same certified transcript as an in-person deposition. Exhibits are shared on screen and delivered with the transcript.

Who sets up the Zoom meeting?

TrialBase does. Every deposition includes Zoom at no extra cost: we create the meeting and notify all parties of the conferencing details, opposing counsel included.

Can the witness and attorneys be in the same room?

Yes. In a hybrid deposition the court reporter attends remotely over Zoom and everyone else meets in person at the address you choose. Hybrid depositions carry an additional surcharge.

How much does a remote court reporter cost?

A two-hour remote deposition in California with a Certified Shorthand Reporter is $769, with Zoom, exhibits and the appearance fee included. Longer depositions are priced per page, with an upfront estimate before you book. Booking independent reporters directly saves firms up to 50% compared with traditional agencies; the live rates are at trialbase.com/rates.

Can I get a rough draft the same day?

Yes. Same-day rough drafts are available, and so are expedited certified transcripts: next-day delivery is +100%, with a 10% per day sliding scale after that. Standard turnaround is 10 business days.

What if the deposition is cancelled?

Cancel or reschedule in TrialBase. A cancellation fee applies only if the deposition is cancelled less than one business day ahead.
